Agree the facts, secure the money, inspect the goods, then release
Six steps, one deal room and a named coordinator. The sequence is the same for a €2,000 watch and a €200,000 necklace — only the milestones change.
What happens, and when
Brief the desk
A WhatsApp message with the item, the value and both countries. No account and no form marathon. If escrow is the wrong tool, we say so here.
10 minutesScope and quote
We check title details, the reference and the right authentication route. You receive a written scope and a fixed fee.
Within the hourVerify and write terms
Both parties clear KYC. The terms set out price, currency, inspection window, transit, fee split and release conditions.
Same dayFund
The buyer transfers to segregated client-account instructions issued in the deal room. The deal is funded once we see cleared funds.
On clearingShip and inspect
Insured, tracked transit with a recorded handover. The buyer uses the agreed window; reports are filed in the deal room.
48 hours standardRelease or resolve
The buyer confirms and the payout leaves the same business day. Otherwise the deal pauses for return, adjustment or determination.
1–2 business daysWhat each side is protected from
- The buyer gets
- A window to verify before the seller is paid, independent authentication where it matters, and a route to a refund or price reduction if the item is not as described.
- The seller gets
- Proof of cleared funds before shipping, a verified counterparty rather than an anonymous profile, protection from chargeback-style reversals, and a fixed release date.
- Neither side gets
- The ability to move the money alone once the deal is funded. That is the point of a third party holding it.
The questions worth asking first
Why not just use a bank transfer?
One side always carries the whole risk. Transfer first and the buyer is relying on a stranger's word; ship first and the seller is. Escrow makes the exchange simultaneous instead of sequential.
Why not meet in person?
For some deals that is fine. Escrow can still run alongside a physical handover: funds are confirmed before the box changes hands, and the inspection window survives the meeting.
What does TrustDeal actually decide?
Whether the agreed conditions in the written terms have been met. We do not value the item, vouch for it or take a view on whether the price was good.
How long does a typical deal take?
Three to seven days end to end. Verification and funding usually land on day one, transit takes one to three days, and the inspection window is 48 hours unless the parties agree otherwise.
